Your horse’s environment and feed can (invisibly) contain mould. Moulds naturally can produce mycotoxins, which are harmful toxins that can cause a variety of negative health effects. Pavo ToxiSave helps to remove mycotoxins out of the horse’s body.
Roughage as a source of mycotoxins
Everybody has seen the very mouldy bales of roughage some time and (hopefully) knows that you should not feed it to your horse. Unfortunately, mould (and the mycotoxins that can be produced by it) is not always visible. Goodlooking and smelling roughage, but also bedding and concentrates can contain mould, and therefore mycotoxins. It’s likely that your horse, without you knowing, ingests and inhales these mycotoxins through roughage or bedding. When the mycotoxins enter the body, then can be taken up into the blood stream, after which these harmful toxins spread throughout the body. Horses are very susceptible to mycotoxins and therefore an excessive exposure to mycotoxins can easily affect your horse’s health.
Mycotoxin binder: removing mycotoxins
Pavo ToxiSave is a mycotoxin binder as it contains ingredients that bind to the mycotoxins in the gut. Because the mycotoxins stick to the active ingredients, they are taken along by the Pavo ToxiSave and leave the body via the manure. As the mycotoxins leave the body, they can no longer be absorbed into the bloodstream and spread through the body. Additionally, Pavo ToxiSave contains ingredients that support the overall health, by support a healthy liver function, boosting the immunity and supports a healthy intestinal function.
Test your roughage! Mould, and thereby mycotoxins, are not always detectable with our senses. If you do see or smell mould in roughage or bedding, remove that part immediately so your horse cannot eat or breathe it in. It is important to remove thoroughly, as the mycotoxins are often also present in the material around the actual mouldy spot. Be aware that mould and mycotoxins contain very long spores and therefore infect even more roughage then detectable. If you see lots of mould, preferably throw away the entire bale of roughage or bedding. Pavo ToxiSave can help limit the damage of mycotoxins, but is not a continuous solution for feeding poor quality roughage, or using infected bedding.
