Westerduin agrees that great strides have been made, but also realises that there is still plenty to do when it comes to horse nutrition knowledge among members.

Research result: nutritional deficiencies are not measurable in horsehair
The Gezondheidsdienst voor dieren (GD) and Pavo investigated in 2021 whether a hair analysis is a reliable method to measure a deficiency or excess of certain trace elements in the diet. This research shows that it does not provide a reliable picture. No conclusive nutritional advice can be given on the basis of a hair analysis in horses.
